Modules
Framework module: Introduction to the double-door theme
This module helps you get started with history: structured as a double lesson, it provides a compact overview of the Jewish world and its fascinating connections to Switzerland.
Students work in groups with pictures and text cards: each picture card shows a historical event and a date, and the corresponding counterpart card provides the explanatory text. This creates a step-by-step timeline that brings history to life.
Teachers can easily create the card sets themselves using the downloads listed below. Or they can order them ready-made for each class from the Doppeltür office (via the contact form). This module is available in German and French.
Baden module: Jewish life in times of upheaval
This module complements the visit to the Doppeltür Centre in Lengnau but can also be used separately in the classroom. It was developed in tandem with the Baden Historical Museum.
Students discover Baden on a guided city tour and gain insights into everyday Jewish life during the period of economic and social liberalisation. How did Jewish families live during this time? Where did they work? Where did they get involved? The module allows them to experience an exciting period of upheaval first-hand. This module is available in German and French.
Lengnau module – Swarming out
This module designed as a tour of Lengnau (AG) offers learners an insight into the history and interfaith coexistence of the village. (Currently, only the entrance area of the synagogue in Lengnau is accessible; the rest is closed for structural safety reasons, but the tasks inside the synagogue can still be completed). This module is available in German.
