Religious practice is becoming increasingly personal and individual. This trend is leading to changes that cannot, however, be reconciled with the often-predicted disappearance of religion. It is particularly in the private sphere that the profound significance of religion becomes apparent, manifesting itself as a complement to traditional religious communities.
