Doppeltür Centre: A place for coming together
The Jewish-Christian history of Surbtal is unique. The Doppeltür Centre, which is scheduled to open in 2028, will bring this history to life. It will be a gathering place with spaces for exchange of views on issues such as tolerance, migration and culture, and will encourage people to question their own attitudes.

The three-storey building in the centre of Lengnau is currently being renovated and transformed into a venue for learning and exchanges of views. The permanent collection will guide visitors attentively through the history of Surbtal – from its beginnings to the present day.
Interactive features and multimedia exhibits will enliven the centre make it hands-on. The renowned designer Alain Rappaport is handling the scenography.

The backstory
The centre is run by the non-profit Doppeltür Foundation, which was founded in 2022. The foundation is responsible for project strategy, exhibition content, property management and fundraising. A special focus is educational offerings for schools. A specially developed programme is based on the Lehrplan 21 (Curriculum 21) and is being designed in tandem with educational institutions.
