Endingen and Lengnau with the Jewish cemetery

Two villages, a shared history: The guided tour through Endingen and Lengnau offers insights into the centuries-long coexistence of Jews and Christians in the Surbtal. The tour focuses on landmark buildings of Jewish life, including the characteristic double-doored houses, the mikvehs, and the Margoa Jewish retirement and nursing home in Lengnau. 

One special highlight is the two synagogues, which continue to bear witness to the region’s cultural diversity. The cemetery, located between the two villages is another part of the itinerary.

Time & duration

Guided tours begin at 10:00 am, 1:30 pm or 3:00 pm and last 2.5 to 3 hours.

No tours are offered on Saturdays or public holidays.

CHF 290.00 per group (no more than 30 persons)
Express surcharge for tours booked within 24 hours: CHF 50.00
Rebooking fee: CHF 40.00

Tours may be cancelled free of charge up to 72 hours in advance; thereafter a CHF 100.00 fee will be charged.

  • Tours start at the synagogue in Endingen or Lengnau.
  • Tours take place in all weather conditions.
  • Tours are suitable for all ages.
  • Limited tours are available for persons with walking difficulties (please indicate this when booking).
  • To get to the cemetery, you may use either your own car or the bus (Endingen bus stops: Zentrum-israelitischer Friedhof (Centre-Jewish cemetery) / Lengnau bus stops: Brücke-israelitischer Friedhof (bridge-Jewish cemetery)).
  • Insurance is optional and is the responsibility of the participants.
