2017
A visionary step: the Doppeltür Association is founded, supported by institutions, communities and cultural figures from the Surbtal.
2018
A new home: the three-story Doppeltürhaus at Spycherweg 2 street in Lengnau is purchased. It will be renovated and converted into Doppeltür’s new centre, a venue for dialogue.
2020
The foundation for the future: the mediation and exhibition concept is developed, and the preliminary architectural project begins to take shape.
2020
The non-profit Doppeltür Foundation is founded. It handles project strategy, fundraising and the development of exhibitions. The association takes over operation of the Doppeltür Centre and the Cultural Trail.
2022
The winner of the scenography competition of the Lengnau entre is announced: Alain Rappaport, known, among other things, for his work at the Stapferhaus museum in Lenzburg, Switzerland.
2024
Doppeltür becomes a public association, allowing private individuals and companies to join the Doppeltür community.
2024
Green light for construction plans. The municipalities of Lengnau and Endingen issue building permits for the centre, which is scheduled to open in 2027, as well as for the exterior renovation of the mikveh in Endingen.
2024
The Doppeltür Association provides new, free teaching materials for upper secondary school classes. The “framework module” and “bathing module” are now available for download from the website. Two additional modules on Surbtal are in the planning stages.
2024
After a short renovation period, the mikveh in Endingen opens its doors, with an exhibition entitled “Water as a Metaphor for Life”.
2028 (still to come)
The grand opening of the Doppeltür Centre is scheduled. It will be a venue for dialogue, interaction and history – and the beginning of a new era.
